My Lifestyle
I define myself as a minimalist nomad because these words aptly encapsulate the lifestyle I've chosen:
- Minimalist as I constantly strive to eliminate anything that doesn't bring significant value to my life, whether it be material, digital, mental, or social;
- Nomad as I embrace movement, both in a literal and symbolic way.
This lifestyle centers around a continuous, dynamic flow and can be summarized in three steps:
- Embrace new interests, life hacks, relationships, ... Keep an open mind to change;
- Learn and experiment with these novelties, relishing the present moment. Assess their long-term compatibility by asking the crucial question: Does this bring value or meaning to my life? If the answer is affirmative, keep it!
- Be willing to let go of anything not worthy. It's okay, they may return if they are meant to.
Here are some principles I tend to follow, derived from years of introspection and experience. I don't consider them as rigid rules but rather as guidelines:
- I limit my possessions to what can fit in a 45-liter backpack;
- I avoid carrying items that can be digitalized;
- I regularly review new information and suggestions on a weekly basis;
- I delete any irrelevant data, conversations, or contacts every month;
- I maintain software configurations as simple and default as possible;
- I wear only 2 outfits: one casual, one less so;
- I focus on one task at a time;
- I manage all my tasks using a simple to-do list and a recurrent tasks list;
- I promptly complete tasks that take less than two minutes to finish;
- I only note down recurring or significant thoughts; I let the rest flow away;
- I avoid long-term planning as much as possible.
